Pros

There is nothing positive to say about the Eileen Mary Residential Care Centre - it was a nightmare from the moment my Mum arrived until she died.

Cons

Mum was actively dying for 3 days - we were only rung and told about this 4 hours before she passed. Mum's jewelry, apparently thrown away in the rubbish after being taken by staff for safe keeping. Staff felt that it was ok to let a 94 year old, late stage dementia patient sign their own care agreement - despite knowing she was under a EPOA. Quality of care - Mum died of sepsis in pain - How can such a large organisation running 4 rest homes not have systems in place to safeguard residents.

No care, no compassions, no worries, just $ signs.

Cons

In my opinion - staff shortage. My relative not walked, no physio, not taken out of her chair or bed . She can walk with assistance or with a,walking frame, but care manager will not allow staff to help her to do this, as she may fall. I have had her walking with a walking frame on her own at home, playing piano, doing jigsaws, which mentally made such a differenc to her. Left waiting to use her bowels, on occasions told to poo in her nappy, or wait until staff have had their report. No simulations mentally.

Suggestions to Management or General Comment

Pay more attention into residents mental and physical condition. They are not just a vegetable waiting to die. Residents,all have been active members of the community. . In 1 month, I had my relative walking, playing piano, doing zigsaws. in the facility she just sits. its distressing to see her like this, My relative has cancer but does not need to be left sitting in a chair all day with no stimulation.
