Another resident asked me just yesterday, "How do you feel about living here now?" My immediate answer was "I love it......... no, that's too much, but I'm very happy here". He agreed, and we went on to discuss the positives; again, the freedom from maintenance concerns, the social activities, the new friendships, but the need to keep up outside friends and activities too.

Cons

very few - shortage of staff, particularly over holiday periods would be the main one everyone comments on.

It is important to have trained people to step in when senior staff are absent - replacing night porters with outside security staff over the Christmas period meant some areas were not cleaned for days - eg the pool and spa were too dirty to use after a few days, and there was great confusion over opening the gates on Christmas Day.
