The Nazareth Community of Care boasts 65 contemporary, architecturally designed villas with 2, 2 plus study, and 3 bedrooms. Each villa is conveniently located near our residential aged care facility (should your health needs change) and hospital levels of care, as well as our chapel, gift shop, consulting suite, hairdressing salon, cinema, and café.

You can do what you want, decide when you want to go into care.

Cons

If there is no place in the hospital then you have to go somewhere else. We have bought our villa here to be place in hospital here when needed but there was no place for my husband when he was dying.

The weekly payments are $130 at the moment but we still have to find somebody to clean the windows. That is not on, it should be included in the the $130 that we pay.

No activities or lifestyle provided by owners/operators (residents committee are providing these services at present)

Re ratings - the gradings relate to Nazareth. Our residents committee are providing us best they can all activities and social functions. We were verbally promised by Nazareth prior to purchasing that all activities, socials, van for shopping trips etc would be provided by Nazareth. It didn't happen and when I questioned a senior management person was told "Things Change". The residents who have been involved in the committee to provide activities, socials etc are now up to 6 years older - are tired and not as able as before. This situation must change with Nazareth honouring their original promises.

Have to know the ropes to get something to attended to. A couple of OSH- type issues made me feel unsafe. Have now been attended to- a positive

No care when needed. You have to organise that yourself even for small things like blood pressure taken.

"Paradise for us"

Pros

During our trips around the world, we have stayed at the Savoy in London, Le Crillon in Paris, The Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof in Frankfurt etc. We can say that Nazareth is no doubt a 5-star retirement village. - Spiritual care (church on location) - Ultra modern warm villas with ducted heating / AC and bathroom underfloor heating - Fantastic location at walking distance to supermarkets, banks, WINZ, vegie shops, Mitre10 etc. - Great community and activities (if desired) - Continuity of care

Cons

- All villas come with garage for 1 car only - The proximity of Brougham Street (probably the noisiest street in Christchurch) may affect certain villas, depending on their location and orientation. It does not affect our villa at all; we have total peace.

Suggestions to Management or General Comment

- Great café on location, with very dedicated staff. Perfect coffee and fresh cakes. However the café is missing a proper commercial kitchen and a chef; serves only hot meals which are microwave reheated.
