"support and care"

Pros

As a family member of a resident in independent living quarters I am appreciate the emotional support and advice given by Village Manager and staff to the resident on request and when needed. Access to, from and through the Village is easy and well managed. The gardens at the entrance and round the main buildings are kept in good condition and always look presentable.

Cons

The lawn and garden areas in the less visible areas are not always as well maintained as they could be due in part, I believe, to attrition/high turnover of contracted gardening staff. It would be better to have a permanent garden team attached to the Village for continuity.

This business is good due to the hard work done by the current on-site local management. 3 years ago I would have rated them as a 2. If local managers were given more autonomy by HQ I would probably rate the business as a 4 or even 5.

We would prefer to see a little less control of the minutiae of village life from Summerset Head Office in Wellington - every village is different, so the degree of standardisation could recognise that.
