Cons

Leadership seems burnt out. Lack of social involvement. Poor quality cafe and catering services.

Look at changing the caterers. Encourage more social functions etc. Better interaction staff/residents

Cons

A nice environment sadly does not make up for the terrible food. We couldnt get a toasted sandwich at 12.30, because they had sold out theyre pre-made 😒. As had the club sandwiches, which I was told you need to start queuing for at 11.45. Only option was a bacon and egg muffin, which strangely gets pressed in a sandwich press. I was hard, tasteless and had a tiny amount of bacon. The coffee was undrinkable. There is no choice on main meal, and the seasonal vegetables are frozen

Do better Selywn Foundation. Elderly people deserve food that's just as good as what's available in the general community. Maybe the tiny grocery store could be expanded, to sell QUALITY fresh food items.

A lovely group of residents live here, who band together, and help each other out.

Cons

Retirees are lulled in to buying the overpriced apartments, thinking that care will be available if required - this facility has three care homes. My loved one shifted from an apartment to the horrendous Sarah Selwyn Hospital (although no longer called a 'hospital') and after a stay at Auckland Hospital was discharged in to a much better facility. There are limited facilities for village residents, no bowls, pool, and an average café. The main focus seems to be on apartment sales

Management seriously need to look a the quality of care provided in the three care facilities. With less money spent on 'keeping up appearances', and more on better quality staff, there is the potential for SV care homes to be a proper kind and caring environment again.
