Cheviot Rest Home is a small rest home located in rural Canterbury, about 90 minutes from Christchurch. Sue Coleman is the Owner / Manager - and was one of the first to encourage residents to share their experiences on Aged Advisor.
Cheviot Rest Home didn't have any trouble obtaining resident, staff or family feedback. In fact, AgedAdvisor received the largest number of verified reviews from Cheviot residents, family and staff, per bed count than any other Retirement Village or Aged Care facility in New Zealand - and more actual reviews than any other rest home. So when they were announced as winners of the Peoples Choice Awards for Best Small Aged Care Facility - South Island - it was recogniton of the work that Sue and her team do.
We wanted to meet, first hand the people that were saying these things about Cheviot Rest Home so we visited some of the individuals that had placed reviews and filmed their comments.
Then, when we found out that Sue and her team had received a letter from the Mayor of Hurunui personally congratulating them for winning the Peoples Choice Awards for Best Small Aged Care facility - we wanted to know what he said.
Mayor Dalley writes, "I was thrilled to hear of the Aged Advisor Peoples Choice Award you received recently..."
"This award is certainly an endorsement and due recognition of not only the way you run a successful business but also acknowledges your genuine desire to provide your residents with a great quality of life."
"...an acknowledgement of your caring and loyal staff who are responsible for delivering that high quality of care that is clearly much appreciated by your residents and their families."
He concludes his letter to Sue with, "Thank you... for all that you do for your local community."
AgedAdvisor congratulates Sue and her team for making a difference.

Helping you find the right retirement or restcare facilities.
The team at Aged Advisor are locals that have first hand experience with Retirement Villages, Rest Homes and Aged Care facilities, either through our line of work (providing services to residents within these facilities) or by having family or loved ones living there. We do not own or run restcare or retirement facilities, and we do not own any shares (personally or as a company) in any Retirement Complexes or Groups - so we have no financial interests in these facilities. We simply want the best for the people that live there or are looking to make a decision of moving to one.
